Life is too short to dread Mondays! By Mariam Dadabhay, Published Author

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is…to Love what you do and don’t settle for anything less….

Do you feel Monday is Looming?…..dreading it already? Monday doesn’t have to be your unspoken enemy. Identify what it is that’s preventing you from waking up a happy, lively soul…

Many of us no matter what profession, have struggled with the FEAR of Monday mornings. Whether its getting up early for a long commute, going to a job that you’re not aligned to anymore or where you colleagues seem to be progressing faster….

Whatever the reason, these are some fast tips to ensure you are using your precious gifts and talents in a way that  makes you truly happy and satisfied.

  1. Write it down…whatever that feeling is FEAR, DREAD, DEPRESSED, ANXIOUS,  write it down and identify the real route cause. Is it low pay, lack of challenge, a bad working atmosphere. By becoming self aware, you can move to action faster.
  2. Make a plan…Once you have identified the source of your emotion, start to make some small changes. For example if the issue is the long commute, try getting lunches, clothes etc ready the night before to make your morning less stressful.
  3. Look around…isn’t it a big world?  There are plenty of jobs and positions out there just waiting for someone like you.  Explore the market, get in touch with recruiters and coaches who can help you find that perfect position.
  4. Don’t like to work for anyone else?…try start your own business. There are so many entrepreneurs who are available to give advice and guidance.  There are plenty of start you own business courses in your local enterprise offices and books to guide you…spend some time in Easons and grab the first business book that attracts you at first glance.
  5. Try a vision board, check out pinterest on how to create the dream life you have always wanted.

Finally, don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t.

So Monday, we meet again.

We will never be friends—but maybe we can move past our mutual enmity toward a more-positive partnership.”

Make Room4Resilience

Author: Mariam Dadabhay, Executive Coach, Set4Life

Change is now moving faster than peoples capacity to cope with it. This can be seen with the onset of Brexit, the rise in workplace stress and the decrease in motivation and engagement. Time is precious, yet most of it is spent fighting fire. What happens when there is a set back, particularly a challenging one- no promotions, a bad performance review, pay cuts, illness, loss. Many people react with strong emotion and a lack of certainty.

Those who can cope in the face of set backs and bounce back even stronger have what we call Resilience.

So what is Resilience?

Its an ongoing process that changes and engages people in taking steps to bounce back from adverse of challenging situations. The road to resilience can often involve distress however we can see around the world how people have the capacity to bounce back from hugely horrific events such as Sep 2011. How did these people repair their lives? ….Step by Step..

Research and ongoing recent training in the area tells us that resilience in the workplace reinforces learning (self efficacy), confidence, leadership, reduces stress and increases performance.

Many studies have shown that the primary factor of building resilience is having a supportive network of colleagues, friends and family. Other factors include

  • The capacity to make realistic plans and take steps to carry them out.
  • A positive view of yourself and confidence in your strengths and abilities.
  • Skills in communication and problem solving.
  • The capacity to manage strong feelings and impulses.

However the road to resilience is a personal journey and there are many strategies for building resilience. There is no one perfect strategy.

Some coping tools you can do today are: reaching out and networking, being mindful and compassionate with yourself, developing your emotional awareness, take decisive action, plan goals and many more…

GoalGetters and Set4Life have combined to provide you with room for resilience and take you through a 6 week process to build that resilience you have always needed. Taking you though the 4 dimensions of resilience-Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual. Enabling you to navigate life’s challenges and remain strong and confident in the face of set backs.

For organisations, the rise in resilience can leverage the strong potential of the workforce making their most valuable asset a lot more adaptable and flexible to change, more resilient to stress and gaining more capacity to take on challenging goals and to deliver with decisiveness!

Its UP 2U!

I ask you this question with sincerity, is it up 2u?? or is it up to them? all those people who held you back and told you that you dont have what it takes to be successful, or you are not good enough , pretty enough or smart enough?.

Did you believe them, did you swallow their poison pill of self doubt, manipulation and fear, did you bring it into your own life and act according to their beliefs?? If so its time to take back your power and realise that the person who sold you this advice put a spell on you and as soon as you believed what they said their nightmare became yours, does this ring a bell?

If so today is your lucky day, lets make a conscious decision to refuse to listen to negative , aggressive talk from anyone including yourself, instead talk about your strenghts and celebrate your gifts every day and believe me this will help break the spells from the past.
