Mindfulness has been used for thousands of years to help people to deal with the different experiences of life. It lowers stress levels and can help you deal better with negative thought patterns and helps you to break the chain of negative behaviours and thinking.
Basic Mindfulness Experience
When you get stressed or strained take a moment to pause and notice your breath as it enters and leaves your nostrils.
Begin to notice your posture , that you are sitting or lying down. Begin to notice your clothes touching of your skin, notice your body touching of the chair or bed. Notice any sounds in the space that you are in, outside your space or the sounds furthest away, now return to your breathing again.
Something as simple as this can bring you back to the present moment and return a sense of calm. This will help you to refocus your attention to the problem at hand, rather than getting stressed, strained and allowing the storytelling of the mind to run away with itself.
